Having rolled up a handful of small property portals in the early 2000s to create The Digital Property Group, DMGT orchestrated a merger with Zoopla in 2012. The combined entity IPO’ed in 2014 before a take-private by Silver Lake in 2018. Overall, DMGT generated £904m from £81m invested.
DMGT acquired RMS, a software provider enabling insurers and governments to manage risks from natural disasters, from private owners in 1998. RMS was later sold to Moody’s for £1.425bn in 2021, a 21.9x return.
Having incubated Euromoney, a finance-focused information and events company, DMGT sold down some of its stake in 2016 for £315m. The group then exited its Euromoney position fully in 2019, bringing DMGT’s total return from Euromoney to over £1.5bn.
In 2026, DMGT sold Trepp to Fitch Group, having acquired the business from private investors in 2004.
The group generated a £482m return from UK-based university and careers publisher, Hobsons, in 2021, having purchased the business for £119m in 1990. The company was bought from private shareholders and sold to two US strategics.
Energy market data analytics provider, Genscape, was sold by DMGT to Verisk Analytics for $364m in 2019.
